I went through the whole process and there is no difference.
Going to Dell's website to manually install Realtek's driver specific for my motherboard.
Opening Device Manager > Realtek(R) Audio > Update Driver > Search automatically for updated driver software: "The best drivers for your device are already installed" I've looked through MANY forums and websites and I've done hours of troubleshooting and it's very difficult to find a solution. My laptop gives me no notifications when I do plug in or unplug my headphones. I've also heard (correct me if I'm wrong) that "Waves" (seen in the previous picture) is related to giving notifications whenever headphones are plugged in/unplugged. I can see that "Realtek High Definition Audio Driver" is installed on my system, as it shows in "Programs and Features": Īnd within my Task Manager Realtek is enabled upon startup: I am figuring my laptop is compatible with dealing with both input and output, as the little image by the jack implies: Īs I was looking into this issue, I found that some people have resolved similar issues through Realtek HD Audio Manager, and I think this might be where my problem stems from - when I go into my control panel, I can not find this program: This has always been an issue and has never worked since I've gotten the laptop a few months ago. Sound Settings - Playback: Sound Settings - Recording: I can hear audio through the headset, but my computer does not recognize that the headset has a microphone, and instead uses the laptop's internal mic, as seen here. This whole problem started with me wanting to use my headset's microphone.
